A few years ago I shifted time spent dyeing textiles toward creating collage. To construct these pieces I combine found materials and paper I’ve mono-printed with acrylic paint. The process has provided a paper-sized format in which to explore the color layering I discovered when dyeing yards of fabric; and it offers a freedom — a visual playpen — where I can compose abstractly without the demands of scale or visual representation. I’m fascinated by abstract shapes and their inherent connection to representational images.
